Leviticus 16:9 NLT
”Aaron will then present as a sin offering the goat chosen by lot for the Lord.“
Honour the Lord
When we work for God, it is not enough to merely acknowledge Him as the Lord. Our duty is to execute every task in a manner that upholds His honour. This means our actions, not just our words, must reflect our reverence for Him (Isaiah 29:13; Matthew 15:8).
To honour the Lord means attending to His assignments according to His instructions. In the referenced scripture, the Lord instructed Aaron to offer the goat chosen by lot for the sin offering and not exchange it with the other goat that would be sent to the wilderness of Azazel. By following His instructions, Aaron showed his obedience and submission to God, thereby honouring Him.
Thus, when faced with decisions concerning any task God assigns us, we should strive to honour the Lord by following His instructions and plan. This requires us to have a deep understanding of His will and to trust in His guidance. Doing so demonstrates our respect for Him and our commitment to His divine purpose.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please help me in my walk with You so that I may never engage in any endeavour that will rob You of the honour You deserve. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
