Leviticus 16:7 NLT
”Then he must take the two male goats and present them to the Lord at the entrance of the Tabernacle.“
To the Lord alone
In today’s scripture, the Lord instructed Aaron, the High Priest, to present two goats that the community of Israel provided to Him at the entrance of the Tabernacle. It is important to note that the Lord did not ask Aaron to present them to anyone else, and there is no record in the scripture indicating that Aaron presented the goats to anyone else.
This seemingly simple step was actually crucial because the entire procedure depended on it. If Aaron had skipped or modified this step, the whole process would have become invalid, and the atoning sacrifice offered would not have been accepted. Therefore, it is crucial to understand that God is the only one who should be at the center of our lives.
As followers of Christ, it is important to ask ourselves an important question: To whom do we present our thanksgiving? Is it to man or the God of heaven and earth? We must understand that our thanksgiving represents our gratitude and devotion to God. Just as Aaron never presented the goats to anyone else, we should not allow anyone else to take His place either overtly or covertly.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I offer my gratitude to You alone. Please accept it for Your glory. I pray in Jesus’s name. Amen
