Leviticus 16:14 NLT
“Then he must take some of the blood of the bull, dip his finger in it, and sprinkle it on the east side of the atonement cover. He must sprinkle blood seven times with his finger in front of the atonement cover.”
Non-negotiable
During a recent conversation with an elderly friend who has extensive knowledge of academic testing, we discussed the differences in exam formats between Nigeria and Canada. My friend noted that unlike in Nigeria, where students are allowed to select questions to answer, Canadian students must answer all questions. Like Canadian students, Aaron had no leeway regarding divine instruction to make him right with the Lord. He must perform all of them.
One word stood out in today’s referenced scripture: the word “must,” meaning that the task was not optional, or better still, it was a crucial part of the atonement process. The slaughtering of the bull was necessary, but until Aaron dipped his finger and sprinkled the bull’s blood on the east side of the atonement cover, the entire process would be deemed invalid. This emphasizes the importance of following specific instructions, even in tasks that may seem mundane or insignificant. Friends, you don’t need animal blood to be right with God. Jesus paid for everything on the cross at Calvary. Like Aaron, who must dip his finger in the bull’s blood, you must also wash in the blood of the Lamb. Friends, are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I pray that nothing shall encumber me from attending to all Your instructions. Help me, Lord Jesus. Amen.
