Leviticus 15:22 NLT
”If you touch any object she has sat on, you must wash your clothes and bathe yourself in water, and you will remain unclean until evening.“
‭‭
Personal responsibility
It is intriguing to note that when it comes to a woman’s menstrual cycle, the Lord did not impose any restrictions on her freedom to carry out her daily activities. She could sit on a chair, sleep on a bed, or perform household tasks without constraints. The only instruction was that those around her should be mindful of what they touch. This implies that the responsibility for maintaining cleanliness during this period was personal, and everyone had to take measures to ensure that they did not become ceremonially unclean.

This instruction is similar to the advice given to new drivers about the behaviour of other drivers on the road. They are urged to be cautious and drive carefully as if they are the only sane driver on the road. In the same way, we should not take our salvation for granted. We must be mindful of our actions and strive to live in a way that pleases God.

Just as the friends and family of a woman on her menstrual cycle took precautionary measures to avoid becoming ceremonially unclean, we, too, must work out our salvation with fear and trembling, as the scripture instructs us. The responsibility for maintaining our spiritual purity lies with us, and we must take it seriously. We must be mindful of what we “touch” and the people we associate with and ensure that our actions align with God’s will. By doing so, we can live a life that glorifies Him and ensures that we remain spiritually pure.

Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that I will not engage in any activity that You didn’t authorize, and I won’t fail to do whatever You ask me to do. Please help me avoid anything that can create a distance between me and You. I pray this in Jesus’s name, Amen.
