Leviticus 15:13 NLT
”When the man with the discharge is healed, he must count off seven days for the period of purification. Then he must wash his clothes and bathe himself in fresh water, and he will be ceremonially clean.“
In Christ alone
The referenced scripture confirms that bodily discharge was not a death sentence. Any man declared ceremonially unclean due to such a condition was a candidate for healing. In other words, there was hope, but it was not based on anything concrete. Today, our hope is in the finished work of Jesus on the cross at Calvary, and it is a concrete hope.
Under the Old Testament, once healing occurred, such a person had to undergo a period of purification, which lasted for seven days. Additionally, the person had to wash his clothes and bathe himself in fresh water before being cleared and declared ceremonially clean. In essence, the person had to wait before going public.
However, through the grace of Christ Jesus, there is no need for anyone to undergo a period of purification. His blood has atoned for us, and His word purifies instantaneously all manners of uncleanliness. Therefore, let’s not take the Son of God for granted, for through Him, we are instantly made whole.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I thank You for sending Jesus to die for my uncleanliness and through His resurrection, I am made whole. Amen, in Jesus’s name.
