Leviticus 15:12 NLT
”Any clay pot the man touches must be broken, and any wooden utensil he touches must be rinsed with water.“
‭‭
God, My Righteous Judge
The referenced scripture reveals some critical insights about who God is. First, it shows that God is consistent in His judgment. This is evident from the fact that the prescribed consequence for contaminated clay pot in Leviticus 11:33 is repeated in this scripture. If God were not just, His judgment on this matter might have changed over time.

Second, the scripture teaches us that transgression can constrain one’s life and those around him. For instance, any man who is ceremonially unclean would not be allowed to draw water from a clay pot by himself and would require assistance from someone else. Since there is no timetable for when he might need water, everyone in his household will be on their toes until he is healed.

The overarching lessons we can learn from this are as follows: first, we must imbibe consistency in our judgement. Our God is just, and we must be just. Second, we must be careful not to let anything master us, as its ripple effect can be far-reaching. We were made from the same dirt as clay pots, and only one interaction with sin is needed to cause contamination; therefore, we must guard our lives through the indwelling of the Spirit of Christ.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I pray that I will not be inconsistent in my judgment, and please help me not to give room for any form of contamination. Amen, in Jesus’s name.
