Leviticus 14:41 NLT
”Next the inside walls of the entire house must be scraped thoroughly and the scrapings dumped in the unclean place outside the town.“
The inside walls
Like every scripture, the above-cited scripture reveals that I AM WHO I AM, who, despite being all-knowing, exercises patience and wisdom in His actions and consequently demands the same from His priest in the Old Testament. In this scripture, the Lord commands the priest to order the scrapping of the inner walls of a house suspected of having mildew contamination rather than ordering its immediate demolition. This command is symbolic of the complete overhaul that we must be willing to undergo, as individuals, to rid our minds of corrupt thoughts.
The Lord’s command teaches us that no facelift can correct a corrupt mind. We must be willing to scrap every unwholesome thought that our mind feeds on without sparing any aspect of our mind from the complete overhaul process. This means that we must be intentional about renewing our minds and purging ourselves of unwholesome thoughts, as the state of our minds affects our overall well-being.
Finally, the Lord commands that the waste be disposed of in an area where it cannot be easily accessed. This reminds us to be cautious in how we dispose of unwholesome thoughts, ensuring they are completely removed from our minds and cannot re-enter. In summary, this scripture reminds us of the importance of intentionally renewing our minds, purging ourselves of unwholesome thoughts, and exercising caution in disposing of them.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please open my eyes to every area of my inner life that needs scrapping and help me scrap it once revealed. I want to live for You. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
