Leviticus 14:37-38 NLT
”Then the priest will go in and examine the mildew on the walls. If he finds greenish or reddish streaks and the contamination appears to go deeper than the wall’s surface, the priest will step outside the door and put the house in quarantine for seven days.“

Don’t be in a rush
A few hours ago, while browsing a WhatsApp platform, I stumbled upon a picture that ignited nostalgia. The image depicted a cassette tape that had become entangled in a popular radio stereo from the 80s. Anyone who has experienced such circumstances can attest to the patience required to remove the tape from the stereo.

Today’s referenced scripture teaches us about the importance of patience. We read that the priest was not permitted to declare a house suspected of mildew as ceremonially unclean immediately. Instead, he had to wait for the house’s occupants to remove all their belongings before inspecting the house. Once the house was empty, the priest would arrive and examine the dwelling for any signs of mildew.

The Lord instructed the priest to examine the house for definite signs of mildew. The dwelling could only be declared ceremonially unclean if he found these signs. The implication is that the priest could not rely on his feelings or any other yardstick to determine the ceremonial status of the home under inspection other than what the Lord specified. Even when the priest found the discolouration, the Lord instructed that the dwelling must be quarantined for seven days.

This scripture reminds us that God gives instructions for every endeavour, and we are responsible for following them. When we follow His instructions, we will have success and make Him glad. The message emphasizes the importance of patience and waiting for the Lord’s directions in every situation, just like the priest in the scripture waited for the Lord’s guidance before declaring a house ceremonially unclean.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, please help me to be patient in addressing every situation and not judge any situation based on my emotions, but always defer to the Holy Spirit. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
