Leviticus 14:24 NLT
”The priest will take the lamb for the guilt offering, along with the olive oil, and lift them up as a special offering to the Lord.“
Cordial relationship
Today’s referenced scripture contains three insights that help us understand the importance of the role of the priest in the Old Testament. The first insight is related to the fact that according to the instruction, only the priest had the right to bring forth the sacrifice. No one else was allowed to do it. This highlights the crucial role of the priest in representing the people before God. So, who is your priest?
The second insight centers on the personality of the priest. The Lord demands that the priest love everyone. Without love, the priest cannot carry out his task. Friends, you cannot wholeheartedly say you are for God, who embodies love, unless you love unconditionally.
The third insight concerns the relationship the Lord expects between the people and the priest. The relationship between them must be cordial, as the priest is the one who represents the people before God. A good relationship between them is essential as it allows the priest to intercede on behalf of the people in front of God.
Therefore, we must examine our relationship with Jesus, our High Priest, and ensure that it is cordial. We must also strive to be blameless and pure of heart so that He can continually represent us before God with confidence and hope.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for always standing in the gap for me. I pray that I will not abuse Your love but cherish it. Amen.
