Leviticus 14:23 NLT
”On the eighth day of the purification ceremony, the person being purified must bring the offerings to the priest in the Lord’s presence at the entrance of the Tabernacle.“
‭‭
Law and waiting period
In the Old Testament, purification was a process that took eight days and involved several steps. According to the referenced scripture, the person being purified had to wash their clothes, shave off their hair, and bathe with water before the eighth day. While the scripture did not specify the timing of these exercises, the person likely performed them daily.

The scripture emphasizes that purification was not an instantaneous task. It required time, effort, and commitment from the individual. However, with the shedding of Christ Jesus’ blood, we can now receive immediate purification from our transgressions. Christ’s sacrifice on the cross made it possible for us to be cleansed of our sins and reconciled with God instantly. We no longer have to go through a lengthy process of purification, but rather, through faith in Christ, we can receive immediate forgiveness and acceptance from God.

Most importantly, the sacrifice of Christ offers us a sense of security and peace. We no longer have to wait in suspense, wondering if God will accept us. We can have confidence in our salvation and hope for eternal life through Christ. The purification process in the Old Testament was a foreshadowing of the ultimate purification that would be achieved through Christ. Through his sacrifice, we have been made new and can live in freedom and grace.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I am grateful for the finished work of salvation Jesus performed on the cross at Calvary. Through it, I do not have to go through any waiting period. I pray that I will always cherish it. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
