Leviticus 14:22 NLT
”The offering must also include two turtledoves or two young pigeons, whichever the person can afford. One of the pair must be used for the sin offering and the other for a burnt offering.“

God’s grace
Humans tend to learn and adopt different mannerisms, which can be influenced by age or economic status. Despite this, God’s character remains immutable and does not change. It is not that God became holy 2000 years ago, but holiness has always been integral to His nature.

The scripture referenced today reveals a side of God that is not conspicuously mentioned in the Old Testament – His grace. If God were not gracious, everyone, regardless of economic status, would have been required to fulfill the same condition to become purified when healed from a severe skin disease. However, the King of kings did not enforce this. The scripture states that He understands our weakness.

The fact that God provided an alternative for those who could not afford the usual purification items suggests that the atonement for our sins is beyond what anyone can afford. This highlights the extent of God’s grace and mercy towards us. Despite our shortcomings, God makes a way for us to be reconciled with Him through His son, Jesus Christ.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, nothing I bring can atone for my sins. I accept the finished work of Christ on the cross at Calvary. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
