Everything has a purpose
Our perspective is critical in how we react to any situation. If we maintain a positive mindset and view the cup as half-full, our reaction will be different from if we have a negative attitude and view the cup as half-empty. Similarly, if we believe that nothing is ever useless, we will always find the good in everything, even in the most challenging situations.
In the Yoruba culture I was raised in, it was considered impolite to use the left hand to hand anything to anyone. An adage even associates the left hand with rudeness and discourtesy. However, it is interesting to note that it was in the palm of the left hand that God instructed the priest to pour the olive oil, suggesting that the left hand was and still remains useful in God’s scheme. This goes to show that everything that God created has a beautiful purpose.
While we may not always know the purpose for which God created everything with our cultural background, it is essential to keep an open mind and appreciate the value of every creation. Only then can we begin to see the beauty in everything around us and understand the unique purpose for which they were created.
Lastly, we must ask ourselves whether we have discovered our purpose on earth. Knowing our purpose can help us live a fulfilling life and positively impact the world around us. So, have you discovered your purpose on earth yet?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, without Your help I cannot see the beauty in anything. Please open the eyes of my understanding so I will continually cherish the finished work of salvation. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
