Leviticus 14:9 NLT
”On the seventh day they must again shave all the hair from their heads, including the hair of the beard and eyebrows. They must also wash their clothes and bathe themselves in water. Then they will be ceremonially clean.“
‭‭
Joy comes in the morning.

In the previous verse, the Lord instructed that a person healed of skin disease must undergo a seven-day purification rite outside the camp before rejoining the community. Imagine the emotions that such a directive would bring to the healed person and those in the camp.

An essential insight for living can be gleaned from this passage: the healed person did not live in fear, nor did they believe that living among people whose status had not changed would undo their healing. This is a powerful reminder that no one can undo God’s blessings in our lives. Whether we have been healed from a physical ailment, emotional pain, or a spiritual struggle, we can be confident that God’s work in us is secure.

Another lesson is that the healed was not in a hurry to leave the isolation centre. As followers of Christ, we are called to exercise patience in everything, just as the healed person had to wait through the purification process. We may face difficult situations that seem to drag on endlessly, but we can take heart in the Psalmist’s words: “weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning” (Psalm 30:5). No matter how long we have been struggling, we can trust that the Lord will bring an end to our suffering and replace it with joy.

One can only imagine the joy and anticipation with which the healed person performed the last washing of clothes, bathing themselves, and shaving their hair. These actions symbolized the completion of the purification rite and the end of their isolation from the rest of the community. Similarly, the end will come to our challenges, and we will be able to move forward with a renewed sense of purpose and belonging.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I pray that I will never despise Your word but yield to them. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
