Leviticus 14:6 NLT
”He will take the live bird, the cedar stick, the scarlet yarn, and the hyssop branch, and dip them into the blood of the bird that was slaughtered over the fresh water.“
Dip them into the blood
In the previous verse, the Lord instructed the priest to order the slaughter of one of two birds. The slaughtering cannot occur unless the priest orders it, which means that the person assigned to do the job must not be in a hurry and must not be sluggish. This emphasizes the importance of seeking God’s guidance before undertaking any task, no matter how easy or difficult it may seem.
In today’s referenced scripture, the Lord instructed the priest to take the remaining items and begin the purification exercise for the healed person. This teaches us that we are instruments in the hands of God. Everyone has an assignment, and God assigns activities according to each person’s ability. Friends, are you performing your duty before the Lord?
Another highlight is that the bird’s blood has a purpose in the purification exercise. While the dove symbolized purity and innocence, its blood symbolized the restoration of the healed person’s life. Also, all the remaining items must be dipped in the blood. This underscores the importance of ritual purity, which was critical in the Jewish faith. It also shows how much importance God places on the restoration of life.
Finally, if the blood of a dove could restore life, how much more can the blood of Jesus, which speaks better things than the blood of anything else, provide an inexorable restoration of life? The blood of Jesus is a powerful and eternal symbol of the restoration of life and the forgiveness of sins.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I appreciate the blood of Jesus and its efficacy. Please let Jesus’s blood speak better things in my life and silence every accusation. In Jesus’s name. Amen
