Leviticus 14:5 NLT
”The priest will order that one bird be slaughtered over a clay pot filled with fresh water.“
A fresh start
It is important to note our callings because God might have specific assignments for us to perform and likewise for others. However, if we do not stick with His plan, things might not go as intended. Although the priest was chosen to perform different tasks in the Tabernacle, when it comes to slaughtering one of the birds for cleansing of a person healed from skin disease, it wasn’t the responsibility of the priest to do it. It is important to distinguish the divine instruction that God wants us to carry out from the part that others are meant to perform.
Moreover, the slaughtering of the bird must occur over a clay pot filled with fresh water. The clay pot represents the earth, while the fresh water symbolizes cleansing and, most importantly, a new beginning or a fresh start.
The lesson here is that God offers a fresh start, no matter what. It is a powerful message of mercy and love, reminding us that no matter how unclean or unworthy we may feel, God is always ready and willing to offer us a new beginning.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the fresh start. I pray that I will forever cherish and not misuse it. I pray this in Jesus’s name. Amen.
