Leviticus 13:5 NLT
“On the seventh day the priest will make another examination. If he finds the affected area has not changed and the problem has not spread on the skin, the priest will quarantine the person for seven more days.”

Selflessness
Priests had a remarkable life characterized by their selflessness. They not only devoted themselves to the worship of God but also to serving humanity with all their hearts. Part of their job responsibilities was to work tirelessly to ensure that epidemics did not occur under their watch. This entailed examining people with suspected contagious skin diseases, which was challenging. The priests understood that other people’s lives depended on their diligence and never shied from discharging their duties to the best of their abilities.

The priests had a unique way of keeping track of time, even in the absence of calendar recording devices. They put other people’s issues into their hearts and ensured they didn’t lose sight of time. In today’s referenced Scripture, the priest must examine the person again on the seventh day. This ensured they did not miss any detail that could lead to an epidemic. The priests’ dedication to serving others was inspiring, and their selflessness was unmatched.

The priests were tasked with foreshadowing what Christ Jesus would do, which He did. His selflessness and dedication to serving humanity were unmatched. Since we are all priests under the new covenant purchased by the blood of Christ, let us endeavour to look after one another. We must be diligent in our duties and always put others before ourselves (Philippians 2:3-11).

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I want to emulate my Lord and Saviour in all aspects of my life. Please help me. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
