Leviticus 13:20 NLT
”If the priest examines it and finds it to be more than skin-deep, and if the hair in the affected area has turned white, the priest must pronounce the person ceremonially unclean. The boil has become a serious skin disease.“
Don’t compromise
The Great Wall that surrounded the ancient China was built to protect it from being ransacked by enemies, but it failed. Each time the enemies attacked ancient China, they came through the gates because the people in charge of them were compromised. This historical anecdote highlights that people are the most critical asset in preventing aggression. It is not enough to have a robust defence system if the people manning it lack integrity.
In the Old Testament, the priest was not only a spiritual gatekeeper but also responsible for isolating and addressing any situation that could lead to an epidemic. Priests were known for their integrity and were not people of compromised status. Their responsibility was to ensure that the people were safe from disease and other calamities. They had to be vigilant and take immediate action if signs of an epidemic appeared. If they had been people of compromised status, various epidemics would have ravaged the land and deprived everyone of divine blessings.
As followers of Christ, we have a similar responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of our environment and our fellow brethren because we are all priests. If things are not going well, it is our responsibility to take action to restore order, not create chaos. We must be vigilant and act with integrity to prevent any harm from befalling those around us. We must also be willing to stand up against any injustice or wrongdoing, even if it means going against the tide. Only then can we be faithful followers of Christ and fulfill our responsibility as priests.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I pray that I will not disappoint You in any task given to me. Please help me so I will not let down my guard while performing any assigned duty. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
