Leviticus 12:4 NLT
‭‭After waiting thirty-three days, she will be purified from the bleeding of childbirth. During this time of purification, she must not touch anything that is set apart as holy. And she must not enter the sanctuary until her time of purification is over.

Thirty-three days
The principles of the old covenant are still held in high regard by some people, forgetting that the new covenant purchased by the blood of Jesus on the cross at Calvary invalidated the old covenant. The new covenant brings better promises, which we can only fully embrace if we let go of the old covenant. It’s like owning a Nokia 3310 phone; no matter how pristine it might be, it can’t compare to the newest version of smartphones.

In today’s referenced scripture, we see that under the law, new mothers were not allowed to enter the sanctuary for 33 days and had to live a restricted life, even in their own homes. This was a period of purification, and they were considered unclean during this time. They were not allowed to touch anything holy. This was to emphasize the holiness of God and the need for purification before coming into His presence. However, this law was abolished with the coming of the new covenant.

Today, we have access to copies of the holy scripture everywhere. If we were to comply with this law, it would mean that each time a woman gives birth to a son, she must not move closer to the scripture, let alone study it, until the purification right is over. This is because the scripture was considered holy and not to be touched by anyone considered unclean. However, this law is no longer in effect, and we can read and study the scripture anytime.

In summary, we should let go of the old covenant because it is inferior to the new covenant. The new covenant brings better promises and a closer relationship with God. We should embrace the new covenant and enjoy all the benefits that come with it, including access to the holy scripture and the ability to go into God’s presence with confidence.

Prayer
Dear God, please help me to walk with You according to the new covenant purchased with the blood of Jesus, the Only Begotten Son. Amen
