Leviticus 11:44 NLT
“For I am the Lord your God. You must consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy. So do not defile yourselves with any of these small animals that scurry along the ground.”
Our responsibility
As children of God, we are blessed with many privileges, but it is important to remember that we also have responsibilities. We must take ownership of our spiritual journey just like the Israelites were required to do in today’s referenced Scripture. God made it clear that it was not His or any angel’s responsibility to ensure that the people of Israel were consecrated. It was their responsibility to ensure that they were consecrated and holy.
God entrusted the Israelites with the task of maintaining their holiness, and He wouldn’t have asked them to do it if it was not within their capacity to achieve it. Similarly, it is within our capacity to consecrate ourselves. We must strive to become holy and pure in our hearts, minds, and actions. As we pursue this goal, we will be blessed with God’s favour and grace.
It is up to us to use our capacity in a way that honours God. We must examine our motives and actions to ensure we are not using our capacity for selfish purposes. Instead, we should use
it to become more like God and fulfill His purpose for our lives.
In conclusion, let us take responsibility for our spiritual journey and strive to consecrate ourselves. By doing so, we will not only experience God’s blessings, but we will also be a positive influence on those around us.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please guide me in all my actions and help me to consecrate myself to You. I pray that I may have the strength and courage to resist temptation and honour You in everything I do. In Jesus’s name, I pray, Amen.
