Leviticus 11:33 NLT
“If such an animal falls into a clay pot, everything in the pot will be defiled, and the pot must be smashed.”

The ball is in your court
In our previous lesson, we gained valuable insights into the significance of breaking a clay pot to prevent contamination from the remains of an unclean animal, as revealed by the Holy Spirit. It was interesting to note that the Lord did not specify that a clay pot should be broken if the remains of an unclean animal touched only the outside or fell on it accidentally.

This crucial detail highlights the importance of the internal condition in our walk with the Lord. The children of Israel had to be mindful of their clay pots’ internal state and keep them covered at all times to avoid contamination. The clay pots’ covering served as a safeguard against unclean elements that could potentially defile their contents.

It is worth noting that the heart is a crucial aspect of our lives, much like the clay pot that holds water. Life issues flow from our hearts, making it essential to guard them diligently, as the scripture suggests. Our hearts can quickly become contaminated, but we can maintain a thriving relationship with the Lord by guarding and keeping them pure.

In essence, the lesson teaches us the importance of being mindful of our internal state and guarding it against any form of contamination. Just like the clay pots, we must ensure that our hearts remain covered and guarded at all times to avoid defilement and maintain a pure heart that honours the Lord.

Prayer
Dear God, please empower me with the Holy Spirit so I may know and do things to keep my heart safe from contamination. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
