Leviticus 11:29-30 NLT
“Of the small animals that scurry along the ground, these are unclean for you: the mole rat, the rat, large lizards of all kinds, the gecko, the monitor lizard, the common lizard, the sand lizard, and the chameleon.”
Am I safe to relate with you?
A few weeks ago, I stumbled upon an intriguing video that detailed the purposes of some unknown car features. The video explained how each of these features was designed to serve a specific function, and it was fascinating to see how the manufacturers had thought through every detail to make the car safer and more efficient.
Similarly, the Creator has assigned a specific purpose to each living creature, making it vital to trust His decisions regarding any creature. The diversity of life on earth is truly remarkable, and each species has a unique role in sustaining the delicate balance of our ecosystem.
Today’s scripture reference asserts that the King of Glory declares small land animals such as mole rats, rats, large lizards (of all kinds), geckos, monitor lizards, common lizards, sand lizards, and chameleons as unclean for the people of Israel. It is essential to note that these creatures are not unclean based on their external appearance but on what is inside them. They carry and transmit diseases that can lead to severe health problems, which is why they are considered unclean and not to be eaten.
Beloved, no matter how elegant our outward appearances might be, our internal mode determines our impact on the lives of anyone who interacts with us. Do you transmit bitterness, anger, lust, or backbiting to anyone interacting with you? Or do you transmit the love of God? Can people relate with you and not lose their relationship with God? Please reflect on these questions and make the necessary corrections where needed.
Prayer
Dear God, I pray that I will not become a pollutant but a vessel unto honour. I pray that when anyone relates with me, I will not cause any setback to their relationship with You. In Jesus’s name, I pray. Amen.
