Leviticus 9:20 NLT
“He placed these fat portions on top of the breasts of these animals and burned them on the altar.”
Burned on the altar
Regarding matters concerning God and His divine instructions, it is not our place as humans to impose our opinions or beliefs. It is through obedience and adherence to the instructions given by God that we can truly honour and worship Him. This is exemplified in the account of Aaron, who dutifully followed the instructions given to him by Moses regarding the handling of the fat from the broad tail and internal organs of bulls and rams. Despite the potential discomfort and inconvenience caused by burning the fat, Aaron did not deviate from the divine instructions and completed the task as instructed. This demonstrates the importance of obedience and trust in God’s guidance, even in adversity.
It is essential to note that under the law, worship was a rigorous and challenging process that required strict adherence to the rules and regulations set forth by God. However, through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, a New Testament was established that eradicated the need for human intervention or invention in worship. Instead, we can worship and honour God through complete reliance on the finished work of salvation. As such, we should always strive to follow God’s instructions and trust His divine plan.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I am grateful for the ultimate sacrifice of your beloved son, Jesus Christ, who died on the cross to redeem my sins. I am truly thankful that His sacrifice has freed us from the burdensome rituals and the need for a high priest to offer sacrifices on our behalf. Through Your grace, we can now approach You directly and seek forgiveness for our transgressions. Thank You for Your eternal love and mercy. In the blessed name of Jesus, I offer this prayer. Amen.
