Leviticus 10:4 NLT
“Then Moses called for Mishael and Elzaphan, Aaron’s cousins, the sons of Aaron’s uncle Uzziel. He said to them, “Come forward and carry away the bodies of your relatives from in front of the sanctuary to a place outside the camp.””
Come forward
Taking action is widely discussed, but having a clear purpose is equally crucial. As good as being proactive is, if it is not based on instructions, it might attract condemnation instead of commendation. When the bodies of Nadab and Abide were to be moved from the Tabernacle, nobody volunteered to do so until Moses instructed Mishael and Elzaphan to carry out the task. It is worth noting that even though other men could have been chosen, Moses’s decision was trusted by everyone present because he was known to be a fair and impartial leader. As Moses communicated directly with God, there was no reason to doubt his judgment.
Considering this, it is worth reflecting on our own relationship with God. It is also essential to highlight Mishael and Elzaphan’s response when called upon to do the task. They did not protest or avoid their duty but carried it out with dedication. This is an important lesson to learn – are we selective in the tasks we choose, or do we fulfill every mission assigned to us?
Moreover, we learn from the scripture that Moses provided instructions to help Mishael and Elzaphan succeed in their task. This is a crucial aspect to consider when in leadership positions or teamwork. Do we support the success of others, or are we indifferent? These are significant questions to ask ourselves, and the answers can help us better understand our sense of purpose and what we can do to be better leaders and team players.
Prayer
Dear God, I pray that I will hear and follow Your instructions to the letter in all circumstances. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
