Leviticus 10:14 NLT
But the breast and thigh that were lifted up as a special offering may be eaten in any place that is ceremonially clean. These parts have been given to you and your descendants as your portion of the peace offerings presented by the people of Israel.
Given to you and your descendants
As humans, we are susceptible to vulnerability when our minds are unsettled. I can recall a personal experience my family had when we were in the midst of our preparations to relocate back to Canada. During this time, some individuals in the US attempted to take advantage of our state of mind by offering to acquire our belongings for an embarrassing amount. Despite feeling unsettled, we remained steadfast and did not succumb to their manipulative tactics.
In today’s referenced scripture, Moses reminded Aaron that the breast and thigh lifted as a special offering were his and his descendants’ portion. What is striking about Moses is that he did not manipulate or reduce the benefits that the Lord had given to Aaron and his descendants, even in the midst of potential covetousness. Moses was content with what he had and did not allow anything to override his sense of fairness and justice.
This begs the question, my dear friends, are we content or covetous? It is important for us to examine our own hearts and motives and let us strive to maintain a sense of contentment and fairness in all aspects of our lives.
Prayer
Dear God, please help me to be content and not exploit others’ misfortunes to succeed. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
