Leviticus 10:12 NLT
“Then Moses said to Aaron and his remaining sons, Eleazar and Ithamar, “Take what is left of the grain offering after a portion has been presented as a special gift to the Lord, and eat it beside the altar. Make sure it contains no yeast, for it is most holy.”
A faithful watchman
In Leviticus 6, verses 16 and 17, we read about Moses’s instructions to Aaron and his sons regarding how they were to consume their portion of grain offerings. Interestingly, despite having already conveyed this message to them, Moses repeated it to Aaron and his two remaining sons in today’s referenced scripture. This repetition raises questions about why Moses needed to reiterate the instruction.
One likely is that Moses wanted to ensure that Aaron and his sons did not make any mistakes while serving the King of kings. Just as Moses played his role very well, you and I, who are followers of Christ, have an oversight role to play primarily to ensure that those in our network continue to operate within the confines of God’s grace. Therefore, we cannot keep quiet but instead be helpful and willingly reiterate God’s instructions at all times.
As long as we believe that we are members of the body of Christ, we must be vigilant in fulfilling our responsibilities to each other, and these include but are not limited to offering guidance, support, and encouragement whenever possible.
Prayer
Dear God, please help me to remain a faithful watchman concerning all that is within my jurisdiction. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
