Leviticus 8:35 NLT
“Now stay at the entrance of the Tabernacle day and night for seven days, and do everything the Lord requires. If you fail to do this, you will die, for this is what the Lord has commanded.”

What is the basis of my action?
As human beings, we are complex creatures with multifaceted motivations and desires that drive us toward diverse actions. For instance, in Western countries, drivers tend to adhere to traffic rules and regulations when they spot a police car on the road. It is difficult to determine whether they do so out of a genuine love for order and safety or because they fear the potential consequences of breaking those rules. Also, what inspired Aaron to follow Moses’s instructions? Today’s scripture offers some valuable insights into this question. We learn that Moses warned Aaron of the dire consequences that would befall him if he failed to follow the Lord’s instructions, and Aaron, in turn, followed these instructions to the letter. The fact that Aaron operated in the office of the High Priest indicates that he faithfully adhered to the Lord’s will for seven days and nights while staying at the entrance of the Tabernacle. So, did Aaron act out of his love for the Lord, or was he motivated by a fear of death? We would only know the answer once we get to heaven. Speaking about heaven, do we seek to go to heaven solely because we fear the torments of hell, or is our deepest desire to be in the presence of God for all eternity? As we ponder these questions, let us examine our hearts and motivations.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I pray that the Holy Spirit will always guide me to do everything for You, not out of fear of punishment but out of my love for You. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
