Leviticus 8:30 NLT
“Next Moses took some of the anointing oil and some of the blood that was on the altar, and he sprinkled them on Aaron and his garments and on his sons and their garments. In this way, he made Aaron and his sons and their garments holy.”
Christ Jesus: Our source of holiness
The story of Moses and his unwavering dedication to please God is truly inspiring. His burning passion to see Aaron and his sons take up their rightful positions in the priesthood was genuinely remarkable. It drove him to devote himself entirely to the necessary preparations. As followers of Christ, we can learn a valuable lesson from today’s referenced scripture about ordination and holiness. It is important to remember that being ordained does not automatically make one holy. Holiness enables a person to relate with God; without it, Aaron and his sons can only be a titled-bearing servant without access to God. So what does it take to be holy?
Aaron and his sons were made holy through the anointing oil and blood Moses sprinkled on them. This physical act symbolized their dedication to God and commitment to serve Him faithfully. However, as followers of Christ, our holiness is based on something far more profound and significant – the blood of Jesus. Our faith in Him and His sacrifice makes us holy and able to stand before God.
This is not a matter of ritual or ceremony but of the heart. We are made holy by the grace of God through our faith in Jesus Christ. Through His sacrifice on the cross, we are cleansed of our sins and made righteous before God. This gift is available to all who believe and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Let us all strive to live holy lives dedicated to serving God and sharing His love with others.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for the power of Jesus’s blood and His word, which make me holy and allow me to connect with You. I pray that I will always revere these gifts and not take them for granted. Please guide me, God. I pray in Jesus’s name, amen.
