Leviticus 7:10 NLT
“All other grain offerings, whether made of dry flour or flour moistened with olive oil, are to be shared equally among all the priests, the descendants of Aaron.”
Divine Provision For All
In a previous passage, God had specified that only the officiating priest could receive any grain offering baked in an oven, prepared in a pan, or cooked on a grill, which was a clear indication of the importance of the role played by the officiating priest in the sacrificial system. However, in today’s scripture, God shifted the focus to non-officiating priests. According to the scripture, God instructed them to share equally in all other grain offerings, whether made of dry flour or flour moistened with olive oil.
The reason behind this instruction could be to ensure that the non-officiating priests were not left out of the offerings. This would have encouraged them to continue serving in the temple, knowing they were also part of the community of priests. God’s concern for the priests’ well-being was evident in His instructions. Perhaps, God provided these instructions so the priests could concentrate on their duties without worrying about their meals.
As followers of Jesus Christ, we are now members of the royal priesthood. Just as God took care of the priests under the law, He will also care for us under His grace. Therefore, let us not worry about our basic needs, such as food and clothing. Instead, let us prioritize seeking God’s kingdom and living righteously, for He will provide everything we need. This is a powerful reminder that we can trust God to care for us, just as He took care of the priests in the Old Testament.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please bless all Your priests with all their needs and keep them from ever going hungry. Let them feel Your presence and know that You will always provide for them. May they continue to serve You with love, dedication, and humility. I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
