Leviticus 7:1 NLT
“These are the instructions for the guilt offering. It is most holy.”
These are the instructions
Today’s scriptural reference is in the present tense, but it is crucial to understand that the instruction was not intended to be an everlasting rule. God replaced the old testament, rendering this instruction only valid for a specific period. Nevertheless, the message conveyed through this scripture is still relevant and necessary to apply in our daily lives. It demonstrates that God always provides clear and concise instructions for His followers, and in the case of guilt offerings, it ensures that the offerings meet God’s standards. By doing so, the priest does not perform the ritual in vain. God’s instructions are not meant to be oppressive or constricting, but instead, they serve as a guide to help us navigate this life with purpose and direction.
As we come together to worship the King of kings, let us follow God’s instructions for us in John 4 verse 24. We should strive to worship the Only wise God in spirit and truth. This means that we should worship with our whole being, allowing the Holy Spirit to guide us in our worship. We should also worship truthfully, meaning that our worship should be genuine and authentic, coming from a sincere heart. By following these instructions, we can be confident that we are worshiping God in a way that pleases Him and brings us closer to Him.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, You gave Moses instructions to pass on to the priests so that they would not do in vain, and they followed them. Please help me to always abide by Your injunctions in the scripture so that my worship will please You at all times. In Jesus’s name, amen.
