Leviticus 6:9 NLT
“Give Aaron and his sons the following instructions regarding the burnt offering. The burnt offering must be left on top of the altar until the next morning, and the fire on the altar must be kept burning all night.”
One at a time
One notable insight in today’s referenced scripture is that the burnt offering was not pluralized. The tense suggested that God did not allow the burnt offerings to be lumped. The altar of burnt offerings had one burnt offering at a time. That implied that two offenders could not complete the atonement process in a day, which then meant that only one of them could receive forgiveness in a day. In comparison, the other offender whose sacrificial animal could not get on the altar of burnt offerings would wait until the following day. Thanks be to God who gave us Jesus Christ, and now through Him, we can simultaneously receive forgiveness for our misconduct. So, why did God request that fire on the altar must never go off? The reason was that the priest had to use the fire on the altar to ignite the altar of incense. God is the master planner, and He orders everything accordingly; thus, following His commands is the surest way to righteousness, peace, and joy.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Jesus to die for my sin and everyone’s. Through Him alone, we can simultaneously receive pardon for any misconduct, in Jesus’s name, amen.
