Leviticus 6:6 NLT
“As a guilt offering to the Lord, you must bring to the priest your own ram with no defects, or you may buy one of equal value.”
The victim first!
If anyone defrauds another, God commanded that the defrauder indemnify the victim. In other words, the offender must restore the victim to over and beyond their initial status. The second thing that a defrauder must do is refresh their relationship with God through guilt offering. An important lesson here is that God wasn’t requesting perfection from the offender or a perfect relationship with Him before restoring the victim. Practically, God put His interest on hold until the victim’s interest is taken care of. The order of the procedure showed that the welfare of others must come first. Friends, let us emulate God in all our endeavours.
Prayer
Heavenly Lord, please help me to put the interest of others ahead of mine. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
