Leviticus 6:5 NLT
“or anything obtained by swearing falsely. You must make restitution by paying the full price plus an additional 20 percent to the person you have harmed. On the same day you must present a guilt offering.”

It goes beyond “I’m sorry”
Our culture believes that saying sorry or apologizing for any misdeeds is a step in mending broken relationships. As good as it is, it was not one of God’s requirements for righting the wrong done to any victim of fraud, extortion, or theft, as stated in the above scripture passage. Instead, the offender must pay the total price of the stolen item. They must also include an additional 20 percent to the victim for their deviant behaviour. Given that restitution might not be immediate, the offender might have to pay through their noses. Did you notice that the Lord did not command that the stolen item be returned to the owner? It served as a reminder and deterrence to the offender and his household about the consequences of unruly acts, and one such is the substantial monetary cost. Another one is that it creates a wedge between the offender and God and the offender and their immediate community. And until the offender engaged in guilt offerings, the guilt remained. Friends, do not engage in any deviant endeavour because God eschews them, and the stain might be difficult to remove.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, please help me always to be contented with whatever You have given me, and if I need more, please help me to be humble to ask You. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
