Leviticus 6:15 NLT
“The priest on duty will take from the grain offering a handful of the choice flour moistened with olive oil, together with all the frankincense. He will burn this representative portion on the altar as a pleasing aroma to the Lord.”
The priest on duty
Under the law, the scripture reveals that priests worked one at a time. Please note that being a priest never indicated that one was on duty. And whenever a priest was not on duty, he was not expected to perform any official duty. As for the priest on duty, the Lord commanded him to do certain things; he must take a handful of “the choice flour moistened with olive oil, together with all the frankincense” and present it to the Lord on the altar of burnt offerings. The priest on duty served as God’s representative, and like any good representative, he had to see that God’s interest was protected and attended to. Unlike the old testament priests on duty one at a time, you and I, who are washed in the blood of Jesus Christ, are always on duty. Friends, let us ensure that God gets all the glory due to Him.
Our heavenly Father, I always want to be on duty for You. Please, help me, Lord, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
