Leviticus 6:12 NLT
“Meanwhile, the fire on the altar must be kept burning; it must never go out. Each morning the priest will add fresh wood to the fire and arrange the burnt offering on it. He will then burn the fat of the peace offerings on it.”
Keep the fire burning
God commanded the priests to keep the fire on the altar burning at all times; that is when they were both on and off duty. Each morning, they were instructed to add wood to the fire. The priests were divinely enabled to determine the appropriate amount of wood needed to maintain the fire, even though God did not specify the wood required. It is important to note that there is no mention in the scripture of the fire ever going out due to negligence, forgetfulness or lack of wood supply. The identity of those who provided the wood is unknown, but they ensured enough wood for the Tabernacle daily. Even though the priests did not work on the Sabbath, the fire continued to burn, not because the altar’s capacity expanded but because of God’s providence. God will surely empower you in whatever you have been assigned; only ensure to be diligent!
Dear God, please help me always be diligent in all that I do, in Jesus’s name, amen.
