Leviticus 6:11 NLT
“Then he must take off these garments, change back into his regular clothes, and carry the ashes outside the camp to a place that is ceremonially clean.”
Change to regular attire
When the priest performed burnt offerings, the sacrificial animal eventually turned into ashes, which was time-consuming. However, the priests were not required to monitor it constantly and were allowed to rest and spend time with their families, which was evidence of the Lord’s kindness. The priests wore official linen clothing and undergarments made of the same materials. When not ministering in the Tabernacle, they changed into their regular dress and used it to dispose of the ashes in a clean outdoor location. Even when wearing their everyday clothes, they did not stop serving God. Remember, holy living should not be limited to when you are in God’s presence. Let it be evident in your daily life. In today’s referenced scripture, it is emphasized that only the priests were responsible for disposing of the ashes, which may have been an uncomfortable task. However, there is no evidence that they refused the work. As Paul said in Philippians 1:30, suffering for Christ is a privilege that comes with our heritage in Him. Let us always fulfill our responsibilities as followers of Christ.
Prayer
Merciful Father, please help me to remain truthful and loyal to You at all times, in Jesus’s name, amen.
