Leviticus 6:10 NLT
“In the morning, after the priest on duty has put on his official linen clothing and linen undergarments, he must clean out the ashes of the burnt offering and put them beside the altar.”
First thing first
God’s interest must always come first. We must not just profess it, but it must reflect in our actions. In today’s referenced scripture, God commanded that the priest on duty attend to His interest in the morning. The implication is that sleeping in was not allowed. Or better still, attending to one’s interest before God’s was unaccepted. The priest gave God their fresh energy every day. Friends, when do you attend to God? Another message is that not just one priest carried out the task daily, which was why the scripture stated the “priest on duty.” In other words, God didn’t burden any of them. Perhaps each of them was on duty once in a blue moon. According to the command, the discharge of a priest’s responsibility could not occur unless he stripped himself of his regular cloth and then adorned himself with his “official linen clothing and linen undergarments.” Today, the garment that we wear to approach God is not made of human hands but of Jesus’s blood and His righteousness. Friends, although under the law, the priests were required to take it off after their service, we mustn’t remove ours because we are always in God’s presence.
Prayer
My King and God, please help me to ensure that the garment which the precious blood of Jesus Christ has adorned me remains permanent. In Jesus’s name, amen.
