Leviticus 5:17 NLT
“Suppose you sin by violating one of the Lord’s commands. Even if you are unaware of what you have done, you are guilty and will be punished for your sin.”
Ignorance isn’t an excuse
In the discipline of law, it is a known fact that ignorance is not a tenable excuse. For instance, some years ago, a woman visited the United States and then decided to drive a rented car around the neighborhood. No sooner than the trip began that a police officer pulled her over for noncompliance with driving regulations. In her defence, she said, “I’m new in this area,” but her excuse didn’t fly with the police officer. However, she didn’t get cited but was deterred from driving unless a knowledgeable person with the regulations sat beside her in the passenger seat. The story above sync with today’s referenced scripture because being unaware of the Lord’s commands did not give a person the latitude if a violation occurred. The last part of the scripture is deep. For the word of God says that the violator would be punished. One can imagine how the people behaved under the law. No wonder the Pharisees created 603 man-made laws called the gatekeepers, yet the people were constantly apprehensive. When Christ came, His death, resurrection, and ascension changed our disposition. Instead of constantly worrying about missing the mark, the blood of the Lamb has eviscerated all our deficiencies. We can now boldly approach the throne of grace to receive mercy.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your saving grace on humanity. Accept my thanks, in Jesus’s name. Amen.
