Leviticus 4:35 NLT
“Then he must remove all the sheep’s fat, just as he does with the fat of a sheep presented as a peace offering. He will burn the fat on the altar on top of the special gifts presented to the Lord. Through this process, the priest will purify the people from their sin, making them right with the Lord, and they will be forgiven.”
Right with the Lord
Under the law, the priests were privileged to make people right with God by sacrificing prescribed animals. As long as the people engaged in frivolities, a prescribed animal must bear the brunt. The sacrifices addressed the consequences but not the cause. However, the death, resurrection, and ascension of our Lord and Saviour address not just the result of sin but also the cause of sinful lifestyles. Like the priests under the old covenant, you and I, who have been redeemed through the blood of Jesus, have a role to play in making people right with the Lord. Our part isn’t to revamp the ritual of burnt offerings as Jesus’s death and resurrection have cancelled such. Our responsibility is to live godly lives premised on the word of God and teach the truth at all times.

Dear Father, please let Your will prevail in me such that my ways will always be right with You. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
