Leviticus 4:6 NLT
“dip his finger in the blood, and sprinkle it seven times before the Lord in front of the inner curtain of the sanctuary.”
Evidence
As the head of all the priests, there was no doubt that the high priest had authority over the rest of the priests and even the Levites. Even if he didn’t want to assign tasks, some priests or Levites might voluntarily do any job for him as a sign of respect for the high priest’s office. While nothing is wrong with the move, however, it did not align with God’s directives regarding atonement for any sin committed in ignorance. The high priest must dip his finger in the blood, which meant no one could do the task for him. After that, he must sprinkle the blood seven times, signifying completion or perfection. The sprinkling of the blood must be done “before the Lord in front of the inner curtain of the sanctuary,” suggesting that every infringement committed, knowingly or unknowingly, is unto the Lord. Remember what David said in Psalm 51 verse 4 – against you, and you alone, have I signed; I have done what is evil in your sight. Friends, like the high priest, a sinner must approach God through the blood of Jesus for forgiveness. Please do not push back!
Prayer
Heavenly Father, my sins I do not hide from you. Please remember the blood of Jesus and forgive and make me whole, amen.
