Leviticus 4:3 NLT
“If the high priest sins, bringing guilt upon the entire community, he must give a sin offering for the sin he has committed. He must present to the Lord a young bull with no defects.”
No one is infallible
Christianity is awash with all kinds of generals. Some make themselves, and people make others God’s generals. Interestingly, we tend to believe that these people are closer to God and they have passed the stage of engaging in sin. The truth is that no one has such a resume! Remember the scripture that states, “for all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory.” Today’s referenced scripture is a reminder that no one is infallible, even the high priest. Being humans, God knows they could drift into errors or make mistakes. And God asked that the priest gave a sin offering whenever he sinned, and God required a young bull with no defects. In addition, the verse suggested that the high priest lived a life open to all; otherwise, how would anyone know that he had sinned? Overall, without humility, the high priests could not do such. It is also worth noting that the action of one person can rub off on others – that is, someone else’s sin or error could affect others. Therefore, whatever position we occupy, we need to work on faith with fear and trembling so that God can help us avoid landmines of sin.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please guide me from falling into the pit of sin. In Jesus’s name, amen.
