Leviticus 4:14 NLT
“When they become aware of their sin, the people must bring a young bull as an offering for their sin and present it before the Tabernacle.”
Benefit of the doubt
One of the attributes of God is that He is slow to anger. And today’s referenced scripture epitomized it. If God weren’t slow to anger and abound in love, He wouldn’t have given the children of Israel time to realize their accidental mistake. Instead, it would have been instant judgment. Another aspect is that there is no statute of limitation. In other words, the people of Israel must atone for accidental mistakes whenever they realize their mistakes. If they realized after one day or one year, it would not have mattered, and there would have been no penalty during that time. By extension, it is never too late to approach God for forgiveness. Another message centers on the quantity of young bull required for the atonement. God specified that the people brought just one young bull with no defect for the atonement. By and large, God didn’t make seeking forgiveness difficult for them or turn it into an opportunity for the priest to milk the erring people.
Prayer
God of all creation, thank You for giving Jesus to us as a sacrificial lamb that cleared all our sins once and for all. I am grateful, God. ln Jesus’s name. Amen.
