Part of the offering
The death, resurrection, and ascension of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, gave us the privilege to serve as priests of God. However, do you and I know what it takes to operate in the priest’s office? As revealed in today’s referenced scripture, serving in the office of a priest requires carrying out God’s instructions the way He desires them. God needed a portion of the peace offering alongside all the animal fat. Note that God didn’t specify the quantity of the part. In other words, the instruction was a test. There was little or no doubt that not all the priests failed or passed the test. Some were beclouded by greed that made them fail to give God the requested portion, like Eli’s sons, but those who understood that all things come from God gave a significant part. Friends, If God asks you for a portion, what would you give?
Prayer
Gracious God, there is nothing as good as following Your directions. Please, heavenly Father, help me to abide by Your precepts at all times. In Jesus’s name, amen.
