Leviticus 2:2 NLT
“and bring it to Aaron’s sons, the priests. The priest will scoop out a handful of the flour moistened with oil, together with all the frankincense, and burn this representative portion on the altar. It is a special gift, a pleasing aroma to the Lord.”
Take it to Aaron’s sons
Today’s referenced scripture reveals several insights. First, it shows Moses’s contentment with the Lord’s instructions. He didn’t try to favour himself or his lineage but affirmed without unequivocal terms that the offering would always go to Aaron’s sons. Another insight is that the priests – Aaron’s sons, must do the scooping and not their father. From the preceding, it is instructive to note that each of us has a different role in God’s kingdom. And speaking about the grain offering, God requested that only a handful of the offering be scooped and burned on the altar. As long as the representative is accepted, the rest derives the same benefits. Therefore the offeror must never try to cheat the system because no one knows the portion the priest might scoop. Lastly, the instruction was so explicit and all-inclusive which means that if Moses were to engage in the grain offering, God required that he take the offering items to Aaron’s sons. On the part of Aaron’s sons, God did not expect any iota of pride in them. Friends, let us, with humility, attend to any task assigned to us by the Keeper of the vineyard, who is our heavenly Father.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please help me to identify my role in Your presence and never to be envious of another person’s role. In Jesus’s name, amen.
