Leviticus 1:14 NLT
“If you present a bird as a burnt offering to the Lord, choose either a turtledove or a young pigeon.”
‭‭
No one left behind
The instructions about the burnt offering did not pander only to those that have herds or flocks, but it also covered the Israelites who had no flock or herd. The implication is that God is not only for the Israelites who had but also for those who did not have. Note that God didn’t instruct that the offeror pick a bird from their flock. The reason is that they were not anyone’s property. Instead, it was God that made them available. Another message centers on the substitutability of turtledove for pigeon and vice verse. According to theologians, turtledoves are seasonal birds, and in most cases, they come towards the beginning of the second quarter and stay for months before migrating. On the contrary, pigeons are available all year round. Consequently, an offeror does not have to go through stress searching for turtledoves during their offseason. If God didn’t stress offerors of burnt offering under the law, why do many stress themselves while operating under the frequency of grace?

Prayer
King of glory, Your grace is sufficient for me; help me not to take it for granted. In Jesus’s name, amen.
