Leviticus 1:12 NLT
“Then cut the animal in pieces, and the priests will arrange the pieces of the offering, including the head and fat, on the wood burning on the altar.”
Cut the animal into pieces
The offeror and the priests had a fair share of involvement in the burnt offering procedures. On the one hand, it was the offeror’s responsibility to bring a sheep or goat without defects. In addition, the offeror slaughtered and cut the animal into pieces. On the other hand, the priests’ involvement was to splatter the animal’s blood on all sides of the altar and set the cut pieces on the wood burning on the altar. As for the priests’ task, no doubt anyone could have done it. God gave them the task because He knew that they must have learned His pattern. In other words, they would attend to the task in the way and manner God desired. Friends, you and I are of the royal priesthood, and we must understand what the Lord wants. Let’s not shirk when it comes to performing our duties before Him.

King of glory, please me always to fulfill my duties before You gracefully. In Jesus’s name, amen.
