Leviticus 1:4 NLT
“Lay your hand on the animal’s head, and the Lord will accept its death in your place to purify you, making you right with him.”
The animal has to die
Once the offeror took the animal for a burnt offering to the entrance of the Tabernacle, they could not leave it there. The offeror laid a hand on it, thus transferring all the guilt they carried to the animal. But that was not all. Until the animal dies, the offeror isn’t off the hook. In other words, the death of a non-defective one-year-old male animal certifies the purification of the offeror. So what happened to anyone with no animal or animal with no defect or animals with no defect but younger or older than one-year-old? Such people will remain at variance with the Lord. Even those that have animals will continue to do it to stay right with the Lord. And this is where the death, destruction, and ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ come to play. Jesus did it once and for all so we could be right with the Father.

King of glory, thank You for Your lovingkindness; may I never take it for granted. In Jesus’s name, amen.
