Leviticus 1:2 NLT
“Give the following instructions to the people of Israel. When you present an animal as an offering to the Lord, you may take it from your herd of cattle or your flock of sheep and goats.”
From the Lord
Before examining the content of the above-cited scripture, it is germane to elucidate why it was in parenthesis. It reveals the authenticity of the content and that nothing was added or subtracted from what was received. Friends, God expects the same from you and me. Regardless of whose ox is gored, do not water down His message. Another aspect worth examining is that once Moses answered the Lord’s call, he allowed the King of glory to talk while he listened. Friends, whenever God beckons on you, let Him talk while we listen attentively. If Moses had not listened attentively, some, if not all, the messages would have been lost, and he might replace his words with the missing part. Regarding the content of the message, why did the Lord specify that the people of Israel must use the animal they desire to sacrifice to Him from their flock? The reason is that He does not want anyone to defraud their neighbors to please Him. In other words, if you don’t have, don’t give, but if you’re going to give, let it be from your flock, not other people’s sweat.
Prayer
Faithful Father, please help me always to give You a genuine sacrifice of praise and gifts. In Jesus name, amen.
