Exodus 40:21 NLT
“Then he brought the Ark of the Covenant into the Tabernacle and hung the inner curtain to shield it from view, just as the Lord had commanded him.”
Inner curtain
As soon as the Ark of Covenant was taken into the Tabernacle, the scripture says that Moses hung the inner curtain to shield it from view. The question is, from whose view? Moses shielded it from the view of the people of Israel and even priests ministering in the holy place. The Ark of Covenant depicted God’s presence with His people. Yet a barrier prevented His people from seeing and approaching Him, thus suggesting that they worshipped God from a distance. According to theologians, the inner curtain was between 18 – 24 inches thick; hence there was no way anyone could peep inside because the material could not be seen through. However, the crucifixion of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, removed the barriers and restored the relationship between God and man. Therefore, let’s not institute any form of obstacles in our worship of the King of glory. Instead, let us tear down any longstanding barriers put in place by men.
Prayer
Everlasting King, thank You for the blood of Jesus Christ that was shed on the cross. May Your name be praised. Amen.
