Exodus 40:19 NLT
“Then he spread the coverings over the Tabernacle framework and put on the protective layers, just as the Lord had commanded him.”
The protective layers
As beautiful as the Tabernacle framework was, it had no roof and was therefore exposed to the vagaries of weather. And that was why God instructed Moses to spread a covering over it. These coverings were made of rams’ skins and goats’ hair. Regardless of how thick they might have been, they would not last forever, meaning each would be replaced at some point. This indicated that God wanted the people of Israel to depend on Him for covering. Friends, do not put your trust in any covering except in the finished work of our Lord Jesus on the cross at Calvary. Lastly, one thing could not be taken away from Moses’s approach to the Tabernacle project. He made sure everything aligned as instructed by the Lord. Thus, let’s do the same thing with all our tasks.
Prayer
King of kings, I rely on Your guidance alone. Please let me always yield to Your instructions without wavering. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
