Exodus 40:12 NLT
“Present Aaron and his sons at the entrance of the Tabernacle, and wash them with water.”
Wash them with water
Every divine instruction is symbolic; therefore, it is wrong for anyone to copy or legalize it, especially if God has not expressly required it. In today’s referenced scripture, God gave Moses two instructions. First, he was required to present Aaron and his sons at the entrance of the Tabernacle. Second, God instructed him to wash them with water. Even though Aaron was older than Moses, Moses was divinely instructed to wash Aaron and his sons with water. As awkward as the assignment sounded, Moses carried it out. He did it just as the Lord had instructed. He didn’t bathe them with water and bathing soap but only with ordinary water. So, what was the essence of the bath? Aaron and his sons were to carry the Lord’s vessels, and they could not do it with impurity. Hence they were to cleanse themselves by the washing, which, according to Paul in his letter to the church at Ephesus, is the word of God (Ephesians 5:26). Notice that the exercise was to be conducted at the entrance of the Tabernacle, which means before entry into the Tabernacle or the presence of God. In John 3 verse 5, our Lord and Savior says, “no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water (sanctify through the word) and the Spirit.” Friends, we must allow God’s word to permeate and saturate our lives.
Prayer
Merciful Father, let Your word richly dwell in me so I may continually adhere to Your instructions. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
